November 2003, Rotorua, New Zealand.  Part of a six-week trip around Australia and NZ, and you’re wondering after the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsundays, Sydney, Uluru, Great Ocean Road, Milford Sound, Queenstown, Franz Josef Glacier, what more can there be?

Just the best yet. Rafting the Kaituna River, including the worlds highest commercially rafted waterfall.

It remains the best adrenaline activity I’ve done on any trip. I went with Kaituna Cascades, who are still operating today, which says something!  The guides’ enthusiasm turned a couple of nervous types on the raft into the ones shouting “capsize us” the loudest.
