On today’s Travel Tuesday, the recent scare that Bangkok was set to outlaw street food vendors led us to do a whirlwind tour of some of the world’s best street food scenes.

Thankfully – whether they over-reached, or whether what they said was lost in translation – Bangkok authorities have hastily clarified that the street scene will live on, but they do wish to control locations to keep main sidewalks clear and maintain hygiene.

This means that locals and travellers alike should not be deprived of famed destinations like Chinatown’s Fikeaw Yaowarat, where stir fry prawns or spicy seafood sent flames rising and taste buds popping.

Or any of the myriad pad thai outlets, some nameless, many magnificent.
