Poolbeg towers are Dublin’s landmark for all returning by air into Dublin Airport.

No longer in use, they divide opinion as to whether they are a blot on a landscape or an icon of the city and its coastline.

That debate continues and their future is by no means secure (see the link for great drone footage which shows their prominence in Dublin Bay clearly).  For me, I’ve grown to be very fond of them and their symmetry – alongside of each other, and reflected in the low tide as seen here at dawn in Summer 2013.
